I don’t have adequate words for how wonderful our day with Nazlina was. We learned so much and had fun doing it. Even though she has been doing this for years, she brings infectious enthusiasm to every part of the experience. The breakfast snacks we started with were a delicious warm-up. On our market tour we learned so much about local foods while shopping for the ingredients necessary for what we were going to cook. Throughout the market she shared cultural and culinary insights. The actual cooking class was incredible. Nazlina has everything dialed in. The carefully designed outdoor kitchen with separate workstations for each pair of students made it possible for her to coach each of us while keeping things moving. The tasty results were better than anything we could have found at a restaurant. If you want an experience that provides amazing food and immersion in local Malay culture, book this class!! It will be a highlight of your trip.

Our day with Nazlina was simply wonderful and is already a highlight of our trip. We started at the local market, shopping for the ingredients we needed to prepare our meal. As we walked through the stalls, she shared her knowledge of local food, culinary traditions, and culture, and her passion for cooking was truly inspiring. The cooking class itself was well organized and a lot of fun. Nazlina’s outdoor kitchen, with dedicated workbenches for each pair of students, made it easy to follow her instructions and prepare each dish. To top it all off, in the end we enjoyed a feast of a meal that was truly restaurant-quality. If you are looking for a cooking class that offers new insights into preparing local food while also learning about the local culture, book this class—you will not regret it!

I booked Nazlina’s class fairly short notice. It wasn’t a problem. I am travelling solo and it is low season so I had a completely private lesson. It was a great class Nazlina is warm and funny despite being known as fierce Aunty. In the market she showed me many typical ingredients. The food we made was delicious and critically not impossible to recreate at home. If you arrive as a big group the options of what you can make will change, but it was great that she was able to adapt the class for just one person.
