We did the private UNESCO Geopark Mangrove Cruise with JungleWalla, and it was one of the highlights of our trip in Langkawi. We did the morning tour, which lasted around two and a half hours. Our guide, Shaf, was excellent — knowledgeable, easy-going, and clearly very passionate about the mangrove ecosystem and its wildlife. One of the main reasons I chose JungleWalla was their commitment to responsible tourism, and they absolutely lived up to that. Unlike many other operators we saw on the water, JungleWalla does not feed or encourage interaction with the animals. Shaf took the time to explain why this matters — from the long-term health impacts on wildlife to the way feeding creates dependency and changes natural behaviour. During the cruise, we spotted monkeys, eagles, and a monitor lizard, and learned a lot about the mangrove forest, limestone formations, and the wider ecosystem. The wildlife spotting felt respectful and natural, not staged. In particular, Shaf explained how feeding eagles things like chicken skin (which other tours were doing) can negatively affect their health and survival over time. This tour really reinforced how important it is to choose ethical operators, even if it means fewer dramatic photo opportunities. Seeing animals behaving naturally, and understanding their environment, was far more rewarding. If you’re visiting the area and care about wildlife and conservation, I would highly recommend JungleWalla — and especially a tour with Shaf.

I completely agree with Rosie Charhalla’s review. We had an amazing experience this morning on the shared tour with our Guide, Wan Rodhiah and our captain, Mee. The tour was in a small group, so it felt personal and relaxed. It was incredibly informative and clearly explained - we truly appreciated their knowledge and guidance. We learned a lot about mangroves, and Rodhiah took the opportunity during low tide to go on land with us and show and explain the most important things about the mangrove ecosystem. We also learned about limestone forests and many other fascinating aspects of the area. During the tour, we saw walking fish, fishing eagles, monkey families (we made sure not to feed them) and even some special birds. We also kept an eye out for snakes, though we didn’t see any. We are very grateful for all the insights we received and for the respectful way we were shown these beautiful spots. Thank you for your dedication to protecting nature - it really made our experience unforgettable!

Wonderful and nature-respecting tour! I highly recommend over the others. Great insight of the ecosystem and love for the nature. We saw eagles, snakes, dolphins, owls, monkeys, crabs etc. Naturally this cannot be guaranteed but the guides have a good eye and knowledge. We experienced the Unesco mangrove tour with Masyi!
