My six-year-old daughter attended classical ballet classes at Act Danse in Kuala Lumpur and genuinely enjoyed them. The teacher Rachel is demanding when it comes to positions, kind with the children, and the teaching is overall of good quality. However, I was surprised that there was no proper warm-up, no stretching at the end of the class, and no real work on flexibility (such as splits), which I find essential in classical ballet. Unfortunately, the experience became disappointing on an organizational and financial level. We enrolled our daughter in October–November and were not informed that there would be no classes at all in December due to many students being on holiday. This should have been clearly mentioned at the time of registration, especially since the classes were already paid for. The proposed “make-up” classes on Saturdays were not convenient for us. At the end of February, while I was on vacation, we were informed that the class duration would be reduced from one hour to 45 minutes due to a smaller number of students, even though we had signed and paid for one-hour classes🙃. I intended to give notice at the end of the term, but when I tried to stop in early April, I was told it was too late and that I should have given notice within 48 hours after the announcement made at the end of February. As a result, I never got my deposit back. In summary, despite classes that my daughter enjoyed and a teacher who is pedagogically invested, the reduction of class time despite full payment, along with the lack of transparency and flexibility in organization and financial management, unfortunately ruined the experience for us.

We recently moved to Malaysia and we wanted a dance group for our 8 year old who has done lots back in England. She loved the freestyle Jazz led by Miss Inka from day one. She has been learning so much and always comes out of lessons full of excitement. Such a lovely supportive group of dancers who recently even got gold in a dance competition. We couldn't be happier we found Acts Dance and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a dance group to join.

We came to know about Acts Dance through the French School of Kuala Lumpur. I signed my daughter up for dance extra curriculum activity at the beginning of this year and she loves Ms Hillary! Every week after class, my daughter would show me what she had learnt during the lesson. If they behave in class, the children would get stickers. What a good way to make class interesting for young children. Now that my daughter is older, I have started her at Acts Dance to continue her dance training. We are all looking forward to the upcoming dance competition, it will be her first time!
